9999 Main Street, Streetsville, Ontario Constructed in 1926 in memory of local veterans who died during World War I . On July 1st, 1926, this monument to Canadian courage was unveiled in the centre of the Village of Streetsville. The inspiration of a group of local veterans, the 17-foot high Cenotaph has been the centre of many gatherings and ceremonies over the last 70 years. Over the years, the Cenotaph and its foundation had deteriorated, so the City of Mississauga, assisted by a dedicated community of donors, undertook the restoration work. Thus, Remembrance Day ceremonies in 1993 began with the unveiling of the restored monument. Each year, on November 11th, ceremonies are held at this impressive monument to honour those who gave their lives for liberty
