I'm glad there is a rest area here, a lot of little know local history occurred.
This river was the first obstacle the Pilgrims came across in the early days of Plimoth colony. Our first western boundary, so to speak. Granted, it was easily overcome by the first real freeze, but, there you go.
Also this little river was a hideout of sorts for early miscreants and Native Americans during the King Philips War. Local legend has there may also have been pirates up river behind one of the bends on the left.
