i just came here from deep river Ontario and now i’m in this dream place. but i’m having trouble trying to sleep. my dreams are getting stranger and stranger, like something from the twilight zone. i don’t know who i am anymore. i was in tears when a scary man in the dreams told me there is no band, and yet we hear a band. i don’t know what that means, maybe he was trying to teach me a lessons or it could be the key to a mystery or something.
the latest dream was like 98 years in the future or something. the government was totally running all aspects of our lives. in the dream i thought i could escape by train. i was seeking passage to Bangkok aboard an express train or something. i didn’t have a ticket and the conductor scolded me for trying to get something for nothing. he kicked me off the train.
i went home and sat staring out at the bleakness of magellan city. i used to think i had a pretty good life here. just plugging into my machine for the day, then watching prisimvision or reading a newspeak paper in the evening.
my friend betty always said it was nicer here than under the atmospheric domes of the outer
planets. we have had peace since 2013, when the government took control of our lives.
the massive grey walls of the pentagon rise from the heart of the command city. i
have always been awed by them, to think that every single facet of every life is regulated
and directed from within! our books, our music, our work and play are all looked after by
the benevolent wisdom of the administration.
they've taken care of everything including the words we hear and the songs we sing. the motto is one for all and all for one we work together, common sons. there is never need to wonder how or why.
the administration tells us to look around at this world they made and to see that equality is our stock in trade. come and join the brotherhood of man!
i believed what i was told. i thought it was a good life, i thought i was happy. then i found
something that changed it all...
Discovery of an ancient device.
Behind my beloved waterfall, in the little room that was hidden beneath the cave, i
found it. I brushed away the dust of the years, and picked it up, holding it reverently in
my hands. it read “ar in”. I had no idea who arin might have been but she was fortunate enough to have her name placed on this beautiful retro device.
I put some fresh federation brand solar battery cells in it and pushed the power button. a little red star appeared then it flashed. next it said “aquiring satellites.”
a gps device! i checked the waypoints and it showed a treasure chest symbol about 500 feet away! Could this be the symbol of the ancient geocashing game my relatives spoke of? I followed the arrow on the screen. of course it could not get me close to the object in question since our supreme leaders turned off selective availability back in 2015. still i walked towards it, out of curiosity. when arin proclaimed 3.048 meters!
i looked around. i saw a pile of concrete and metal pipes that appeared a little bit out of place. i found a metal can! it was an ancient treasure! inside i found a notebook with all kinds of signatures and little trinkets inside. how different it was from the inaccurate gps devices that our supreme leaders gave us. This one could navigate to within 3.048 meters of the waypoint! I can't wait to tell the supreme leaders about it!
