Gilbert the Guinea Pig descends from an adventurous clan of guinea pigs that love geocaching and moved to South Australia in 2011 to help guard the Wandering Heroes (WH) series established by our own Murray Bridge icon, CPwanderer. The clan undertakes its work in secret and it is extremely rare for a human to see them undertaking these special duties.
Gilbert's home is not far from the beginning of the Wandering Heroes series, just out of Tailem Bend and I wouldn't be surprised if you've driven past there on occasion. But when a serious threat recently arose from the East and a nasty prickly weed threatened to infest and overgrow the WH series making it inaccessible to geocachers Gilbert was forced to undertake a perilous journey to find the secret recipe for a special tincture that his brethren could make in large volumes and distribute along the Karoonda Highway to stop this dire threat. The only other viable alternative was to use Round Up but that would require a lot more money than what these poor creatures could afford. In comparison the special tuber needed for the tincture was readily available.
So off he went to visit a wise and mighty Frog that resided on a very large hill a long, long way away. Luckily he was granted safe passage over rough seas by a kind Fish Lord, who mustered a strong Walrus for him to ride. But when he arrived at the hill he looked in awe, this was a big hill for his tiny legs to navigate. Yet up he went one step at a time to make his audience with the Mighty Frog. As luck would have it a friendly Owl guided him from above as from her height she could see the big picture, making his path easier through this tricky 4 star terrain and finally totally exhausted he reached the top to undertake his special tincture training. Then it was time to head home!
By the time Gilbert reached his home shores he was on the verge of collapse and suddenly everything went dark as his little legs gave way. Gilbert's not sure how much time passed but he woke feeling a gentle nudge on his little snout. A rare Unicorn had appeared to help him. He climbed on its back and the Unicorn took him to the Tailem Bend Healing Centre for treatment. It was there that Gilbert opted for alternative therapies and enjoyed some rejuvenating massage, a chakra balance and some crystal healing before returning home to a joyous welcome.
Of course, the secret tincture worked, the WH series was saved and all lived happily ever after.
