Geocache Description:

This is cache 10 of 15 and is very cache and dashable. There is parking on the opposite side of the road to the cemetery gates. Can hold small TBs.

Please leave no clues in the log, we will remove logs that we deem to do so.

If you are doing our walk, you may as well do a cache that is not ours next, as it adds very little time or distance to the walk. The Yoxwood cache is also good place to stop and have a bite to eat, drink and rest if you so feel inclined, as there is some seating available there. Please take rubbish with you.

To get to the Yoxwood cache and our own number 11, continue down the cemetery lane, into the cemetery, keep to the right hand hedge and head to the right hand corner of the cemetery. A Yoxwood gate will be almost right in front of you on the other side of the footpath. If you wish to miss Yoxwood out just turn west/left when you get to the footpath and continue over the little bridge and up the field. Or once you have found Yoxwood continue through the wood until you get to the other gate and turn right/west over the little bridge over the river Yox to number 11.

Some local historians believe that the location of that bridge may have been the location of the ford that gave Yoxford its name.

As you go up the field you may notice there is a small wood to your right this was the location of a Gokesford manor, this was a fortified manor with a moat and would have looked like a mini castle. It had 600 acres of land and was mentioned in the doomsday book. Unfortunately there is little evidence of the building now.
