The village of Capps was named for Daniel Washington Capps. He gave the land for the railroad and the water tank fill station in 1893. The trains would stop here at the Depot to fill the boiler tanks in order to make steam to drive the piston that turned the wheels of the locomotives. The village became known as Capps Station. The old Depot still stands but the water tanks fell down due to Hurricane Opal in the late 1990s.
This is a " Geo-Tube " cache. Its a small well placed tube with a cap placed about 100+yds from the original Depot site.
Congratulations to LadyLaCoe and two-on-a-bike for the FTF!
