Geocache Description:

A cache and dash placed to mark the 150th anniversary of the oldest golf club in England.

The golf club in question was founded in 1864, and is the oldest golf course in the country. The oldest links course outside Scotland is situated on Northam Burrows and golfers are still playing along the original fairways. In addition to this, it is home to the second oldest ladies' golf club in the world.

Bideford Bay - the largest amateur golfing competition in Europe is held here and across the water at Saunton. J H Taylor started as a caddy at the club, and young amateur Jimmy Mullen did us proud at the Open back in 2013.

(update 9/9/2016 - young Jimmy Mullen has now become a professional golfer, and has been for over a year!)

2014 marks the 150th anniversary of the founding of the golf club, and as a golfing widow, it seemed fitting to mark the occasion with one of my passions!

The container is appropriate to the reason for and the environment of the cache. Nearer a nano-cache considering log size - tweezers required and BYOP.

Cache has been placed with kind permission of the Secretary of club. Please bear this in mind when searching for the cache!
