hobthrush

In 654 Cuthbert came to Lindisfarne where his reputed gifts for healing gained far reaching fame for the Island. Just offshore from Lindisfarne itself is the small island of Hobthrush, also known as St. Cuthbert's Isle, which is cut off from the main island at high-tide. It is said that this is where Cuthbert crafted his legendary beads which he used as a hermitage. There are the remains of a small mediaeval chapel on the Isle which is a scheduled monument.
