Around the World in 80 Days ... Challenge Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

retiredprof: In light of geocaching's recent changes to the publishing rules, I am archiving all 150 of my challenge caches. I am a retired psychology professor, not a computer programmer. I am simply unable to comply with the new geochecker rules. I am sad that I have to do this. For those who have already begun any of my challenge caches, please note that you can still log archived caches. If you have any problems with this decision, please contact the geocaching authorities so that your suggestions may be considered.

Geocache Description:

The cache is hidden near Hwy 99 about five miles north of Yuba City along the frontage road that parallels the highway. This is a difficult cache, so be sure to read the logging requirements below and bring a major TOTT (or an athlete).

This cache will take you around the world--vicariously, that is. Your task is to find 25 caches, each having a different country in the name, and each country starting with a different letter of the alphabet. These must be current sovereign states (per Wikipedia; the exceptions being Western Sahara which has not been granted sovereignty, and Hong Kong which is considered a "city state") and with the common English spelling of the name (Spain, for example, not Espana). Do not use the adjective form, such as Canadian, Dutch, French, German, Italian or Spanish. You may omit such phrases as "republic of," "commonwealth of," "state of," "kingdom of," and so on. Avoid such words as "England," "Scotland," and "Holland" as they are not on the Wiki list.

It is interesting to note that Mexico's official name is "United Mexican States"; Russia's title is "Russian Federation"; and Switzerland is "Swiss Confederation." We will make an exception to the "exact name rule" here. You may use the names, Mexico, Russia and Switzerland, as these titles are so commonly in use.

You may not include lab, locationless, or event caches on your list, and only two caches from a series are allowed. Be sure to include six types (icons) of caches on your list, as I have done below. And, extra credit to you if you can complete this challenge in 80 days...
