~On November 27, 1885, W. E. Bill Weimer arrived in Davis, coming from Frostburg, Maryland.He became identified with the town and community, living his life here in the town he helped to build. He came in a boxcar, bringing horses and logging outfit with him. Bill Weimer worked as a teamster, hauling logs from which lumber was sawed to build the tannery and two large houses, one for t he superintendent and the other for the assistant. In 1903 he went into business for himself, contracting and draying; dealt in coal, ice, brick, cement, and sand. During his time in Davis, he served as mayor and was the fire chief for Davis Volunteer Fire Department for 42 consecutive years. Mr. Weimer passed away in 1943.
Weimer's name is attached to a cold water spring and a stream that flows into Blackwater River just across the bridge going south on Route 32. The name Weimer was imprinted in the concrete face, but after decades of weathering it is no longer visible. The spring provides some of the best drinking water in the area. People come from miles away to this water for their drinking.

One or two cars can park near the cold refreshing water cache. The cache is a camo cylindar. Area may be very wet if it has been raining.
