Geocache Description:

The Shaver’s Creek LTERP (or Long-term Ecological Reflections Project) seeks to record natural and cultural history happenings at eight locations in and around Shaver's Creek Environmental Center over the course of a full century. We’re placing one cache at each spot to lead more people to them and build our 100-year record!

This cache is near, but not actually within, the Klingberg Aviary at Shaver's Creek, which features many live animals! Please respect the animals on your visit — we are only open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please, no dogs anywhere near this cache or the Aviary. The cache is NOT actually inside the Aviary, so please don't waste your time looking on any structure that has an animal living inside!

Site #7 of the LTERP and our first Shaver's CreekCache is in the Aerie Garden adjacent to the Klingsberg Aviary at Shaver's Creek Environmental Center.  Shaver's Creek Environmental Center provides a home for non-releasable birds of prey, including hawks, owls, and eagles, and is open to the public as an educational place.

The cache is a waterproof plastic container which is large enough to contain a logbook, a pack of colored pencils (please keep in cache), and room for other items. Please take your time and leave an inspired entry in the book! Feel free to make a sketch of a raptor, pen a poem, or write as much as you like. If you take any photographs, please share them with us on social media!

Since 2006 we have invited resident reflectors—authors, artists, poets, musicians—to spend time at the Creek and see how each LTERP spot, including this one you are seeking, inspires them. You can discover all of their artifacts at www.ShaversCreek.org/LTERP

... but now it's your turn. Please help enrich our project by leaving something special in our logbooks!
