Geocache Description:




The first Gold Cup run in Detroit was won by a local driver, boat builder Bernard Smith. Bernard is the son of famed Chris Smith the builder of the past two Gold Cup winning hulls and also one of the creators of Chris-Craft Boat Company. Bernard Smith piloted the Miss Minneapolis to a win averaging 49.7 mph.
