George H. Townsend was president of Boyce Motometer Company and the owner of his boat Greenwich Folly. He won the Gold cup in this boat in both 1926 and 1927. Both races were held in New York and the race in 1926 was run at an average speed of 49.2 mph. The following years speed was 50.9 mph.
