
Ted Jones was not only the driver but also the designer of this new concept boat Slo-Mo-Shun IV, having a semi-submerged propeller; this design would be use for the next couple of decades. He won the race in 1950 with the average speed of 78.216. By winning this race he takes the Gold Cup to Seattle, Washington where it would stay for the next 5 years.
