Ron Musson won the 1963 and 1964 Gold Cup On the Detroit River. He followed that up with the Gold Cup win in Seattle, Washington 1965. In 1963 his winning run was with the average speed of 105.124 MPH, 1964 with the average speed of 103.433. In Seattle 1965, he won with the average speed of 103.132.
June 19, 1966 Ron Musson lost his life when his boat disintegrated at 160 MPH in Washington, DC. Later that same day Rex Manchester and Don Wilson had collided and that wreck killed both of those drivers as well.
