The cattle grids in the Isle of Man are a type of obstacle used to prevent sheep from passing along a road which penetrates the fencing surrounding an enclosed piece of land. It consists of a depression in the road covered by a transverse grid of bars or tubes, normally made of metal and firmly fixed to the ground on either side of the depression, such that the gaps between them are wide enough for their legs to fall through, but sufficiently narrow not to impede a wheeled vehicle or human foot. This provides an effective barrier to the sheep without impeding wheeled vehicles, as the sheep are reluctant to walk on the grates.

Metal Muse 1
This is the first cache in a series of 15 caches placed around some of the more rural areas of our beautiful Island. All but one of the caches in this series are ‘Drive By'. You can complete the caches in any order except for Metal Muse 15 which is a Bonus Cache for which you will need to have collected the letters and their corresponding numbers. Please note that there are not any codes in the nano caches, the multi or the puzzle cache.

There are a variety of cache types and cache containers. Most have a pencil, but not all so make sure that you have a pen / pencil with you. It would also be advisable to have a tool similar to tweezers to help you retrieve some of the logs. Enjoy the drive!
This one is a nano cache.
