Unlike my other caches, this one was placed before sunrise in the dark. Walking in fields the full moon ruled the night, but in the thick forest the darkness enlisted large white pines and hemlocks to block out any light. My lantern extinguished and darkness reined as I stumbled up to the ridge. Open pools of water defied the 14-degree temperature to soak my boots.
My gps is sometimes off a few seconds so I left the cache easy to find in case you need to look wide. I don't know where to park--I walked. Perhaps on Rt. 44, but not on Beckley Bog unless you want to swim. Beware the ridge; Indians were buried there and some not quite enough.
Please note where you came from on the online log. Thanks.
