Listed above is your starting destination...the parking. This is a
parking meter fee area which takes quarters. Or, you can park on a
nearby side street to avoid paying the fee. From the parking area,
the public path begins by the southwest corner along the Lake
Geneva shoreline. If you think you are walking into someone's
backyard, you are probably on the right path. This is Lake Geneva's
shoreline public pathway that is surrounded by privately-owned
lakefront homes in which the home owner's are supposed to take care
of their part of the path for the pedestrians.
Now, we don’t plan on taking you completely around the
lake (about 27 miles), but you will have a beautiful two-mile hike
each way to and from the virtual cache location. A warning...There
are NO public restrooms on the path, so go prepared. Stay on the
path. Because the path is surrounded by private property, it was
very difficult to find a spot for a regular cache, (we tried, it
failed) but the hike is great and we feel it is well worth the
effort as do many other geocachers who encouraged us to make this a
virtual cache instead of archiving it away. So, we have decided to
make this a multi-stage virtual cache just so we know you did in
fact hike at least the two miles to and from the virtual location.
Just take your time and enjoy the views! We think this cache makes
for a gorgeous walk in any of our Wisconsin's four seasons.
