Geocache Description:

This cache was placed in early April when the spring melt was still in full force.  We drove along this road after grabbing a nearby cache when we spotted some huge ice formations in the river.  When we got out to get a better look a huge chunk of ice broke off and fell into the river sending a big wave across the water towards us.  When I say the ice was thick, I am talking it looked to be about ten to twelve feet thick!  Now I've lived in this region of New York my whole life and have never seen ice like this before... absolutely awe inspiring and beautiful.

No mater what time of year you grab this cache there is a pull off on the southbound  side of Rt 40 that makes a nice scenic overlook.  You will need to step just over the guardrail to grab the cache, a camoed bison.  There is a slope down to the river if you are feeling adventerous, but please be very careful and do so at your own risk.

Cheers!
