Beware of the Muggles, this is a very popular area especially during the holidays. There is plenty of outdoor seating for the nearby restaurants and pubs. The Brewer's Quay complex was home to the former Devenish Brewery. It now houses a fascinating collection of all kinds of antique and memorabilia stalls, also a little cafe and a small museum. A small admission charge applies to the museum.
Up until the end of the eighteenth century the old harbour of Weymouth, formerly known as Ope Cove (from which Hope Square gets its name) had a large inlet here. The inlet ran (until major reclamation in 1781) up to where the public house stands today.
In the stone wall above the cache is a dent probably from a cannonball fired from the Chapelhay Fort during the Civil War period @1645.
Happy caching!
