IGREJA SÃO VICENTE

PT - A Igreja de São Vincente remonta a 1657, embora o edifício que aqui se encontra é uma reconstrução de 1759 pois, em 1755 com o terramoto ficou praticamente em ruínas. Restam apenas alguns elementos lapidados dos séculos XV e XVI - uma verga de porta, decorada, três pias para a água benta e um fuste de coluna com capitel aos gomos, encontrada quando se processou o levantamento do antigo cemitério existente no adro. O local já teria um fim sagrado na época romana. Neste largo existia ainda um Hospital que pertencia a uma confraria que apoiava os peregrinos que participavam nas festas do Espírito Santo ou do Imperador. Ainda hoje existe o edifício onde o mesmo esteve instalado. Neste largo da Igreja Matriz, conseguimos ainda avistar um coreto de planta octogonal.

EN - Saint Vincent Church/ Mother Church of Alcabideche dates back to 1657, however, the building that we can see here it’s a reconstrution of 1759, due to the earthquake of 1755, the church was almost in total ruins. The only remains of the original church date back to the 15th and 16th centuries.

This place was already a sacred place in Roman times. Near this church, existed an Hospital that helped the pilgrims that participated in the Holy Spirit Festivities. The building that housed this Hospital still exists in the square. We can also admire in this square, the old bandstand (Coreto) with an octogonal plant.
