Not So Beach SIDE (East Auckland) Traditional Cache

This hidden valley in Mellons Bay was one of the few remaining pockets of land in Howick that hadn't been subdivided. In 2013 that all changed and now this area has been opened up for big houses on small sections, known as Beach SIDE.

This cache is along part of the MacDonald Walkway and connects Haseler Crescent down to Mellons Bay beach, 35mins walking. As a wetland area, there are plenty of birds to be seen.

The walkway is named after the MacDonald farm adjacent to Mellons Bay School and to recognise the enhancement work to the valley and stream done by the MacDonald family.

There are multiple entrances to the valley's MacDonald Walkway - Mellons Bay Road, Cheriton Road, Haseler Crescent, Montressor Place, Page Point. A waypoint is provided if you are entering off Cheriton Road.
