Geocache Description:

Yes, there really is a river named Carrot River, but this is not where I come from!  You're getting closer though!  You are seeking a small tubular type container with some car related tradables.  You need to bring your own writing stick.

Welcome to my series of "Road Trip" hides........It seems impossible for me to take a road trip without music...and there are some tunes that I automatically crank up the volume for!  A good Road Song is one that makes you want to sing along with it, one that stirs memories of past life events and relationships perhaps....and one that can jolt you wide awake if you find you need a bit of a 'boost'...crank up the music and enjoy!  Even if you aren't fond of some of these selections in this continuous series, I think you will agree that these 'classics' are definitely memorable and appropriate!

This series won't be limited to just one particular highway but I have started with this route...this is one of the many provincial highways I have travelled countless times as it is the quickest route from Saskatoon to my hometown in Northeast Sask.  I plan to continue placing caches on this route on a regular basis -I hope you enjoy them.I have tried to place these caches where you can safely pull off the road but please exercise care and caution as you would for any other roadside stop. Have fun, buckle up, and hit the road!

This song by Supertramp was my personal 'theme song' when i was in my late teens and early 20's....time at the bar or out partying somewhere in the country with friends almost always led to me having to take 'the long way home' to avoid possible encounters with the local RCMP or in many cases, I was the driver giving others a lift so I ended up having to take the long way home. This song brings back a flood of memories for me of that time in my life and the song will forever remain a favorite of mine....

"When lonely days turn to lonely nights

You take a trip to the city lights

And take the long way home

Take the long way home

You never see what you wanna see

Forever playin' to the gallery

You take the long way home

Take the long way home

...

So when the day comes to settle down

Who's to blame if you're not around

You took the long way home

You took the long way home...."

Supertramp's 'BREAKFAST IN AMERICA' album is one of the all-time best compilations I've ever heard.  I have owned it in 8 track, LP record, cassette and cd format!  Check it out, you won't be sorry!

CONGRATULATIONS TO tylren FOR BEING FIRST TO FIND ON THIS CACHE! THANKS! THERE WILL BE MORE 'ROAD SONG' CACHES SOON!
