Geocache Description:

Cache is located along a very scenic walk, taking about half a hour to get to. Track is well formed, but sides are very steep in places, so keep kids close. Poor GPS reception at the cache site means that you will have to think like a cache hider.

From SH6, turn onto Seddon St, then Fraser St, then drive down Ballance St. Park at 42 24.465, 171 15.191 ? the walk will be obvious when you are at the parking spot. It will take between 20min and 30min to reach the cache site, which is located at the end of the walk next to a waterfall. Due to poor GPS coverage I was unable to obtain a fix at the actual cache site, so the co-ords above are the point at the bottom of the steps, standing in front of the steps on a very slippery rock. If you stand on the rock and look towards the falls the cache is located about 7m directly behind you (making it on the right hand side of the steps). (I left the compass in the car, so I can?t give you are bearing, sorry)
When placed, contained in a 2l camo painted plastic box were:

  • Glow in the Dark Skeleton Keyring
Warning: The rocks at the end of the walk are very slippery, please take extreme care when walking on them if you are seeking a better vantage point for taking photographs, otherwise you might end up getting rather wet.
