Geocache Description:

Back Creek Gorge is a special place. Somewhat off-the-radar, it isn't listed in any current walking track guides, and isn't part of a National Park. The track down into the gorge is maintained by local residents. Venture down and you will be rewarded for you efforts with a set of 5 awesome waterfalls and superb rainforest experience.

This cache is hidden a little donwstream from the last waterfall "Twin Falls" which is perhaps the most spectacular of them all. Placed to encourage more Geocaching visits to this unique area. You can try for 2 of Zactyl's famous "Geotalk Axis-of-Evil" caches on the way to this one (you'll need to solve the puzzles first though). There are also several GCA caches to be collected.

From the parking coordinates at the head of Back Creek Gorge, take the track down towards the creek. About halfway down the track splits at a seat (from which a great view of Lipp Falls can be seen). From here you can turn right, heading down to Lipp Falls to begin a rock-hopping adventure collecting the other caches as you follow the creek bed.

Or you can turn left and head straight down to the bottom of Twin Falls, bypassing the other waterfalls. This is a rough bush track marked with ribbons but is quite easy to follow. Once at the base of Twin Falls, a rock-hop will get you to GZ. We recommend the creek bed route on the way down, returning via the higher bush track on the return.

Although the distance isn't that far, approx 3km round trip, this is a true off-track experience. Take ususal bush walking precutions, sturdy footwear, plenty of water, enough food, and tell someone where you're going. You'll need to be reasonably fit and be comfortable with off-track navigation, scrambling and rock-hopping.

Do not attempt this cache after heavy rain or if it's wet, as the rocks will be slippery and the chance of slipping and injuring yourself are much higher.

IMPORTANT: Do not attempt to access this cache through adjacent military land. Use the suggested route via Back Creek Gorge to avoid trespassing, unexploded ordinance etc.

Enjoy...
