Geocache Description:

This is one of a series of caches hidden as part of a 2014 CITO Event on April 26th. The Park is located near Fenkell and Telegraph, has 250 acres of land, making it the fourth largest park in Detroit. It is about one fourth of the area of Belle Isle or a quarter square mile.

The Legend -

Years ago, the Knights of Moscovy had persuaded Lord Francis Drake to give them the Territory of Calisota .

In exchange, the Lord requested them to pay to him in tribute, yearly, a duck.

The Knights were extremely wealthy. For years they'd taken from the East nobody knows what spoils of gems, precious metals, silks, ivory and such.

So for the first tribute, they created ,not an insignificant live bird, but glorious solid gold, jewel encrusted duck as their gift to Lord Drake, The Maltese Duck!

While it was traveling to Duckburg on the Knight's galley , it was stolen by Admiral of the pirates of Brutopia.

In time, it turned up in Goosetown, It turned up, again, in Duckburg at some point in hands of Cornelius Coot.

Flintheart Glomgold acquired it though probably through a not so legal scheme.

Gladstone Gander then won it from him in a game of Duck, Duck, Goose.

He then sold it to Fergus McDuck, who passed it on to his son, Scrooge McDuck.

By that time, it had been painted with brown enamel to hide its true identity and value.

After that, it supposedly remains locked in McDuck's fabled Money Bin, alongside the Number One Dime.

However, Magica DeSpell claims that she has enchanted the Maltese Duck from the Money Bin and replaced it with a decoy.

Since no one can ever get admittance to the Money Bin, except Scrooge himself, the real location of the Maltese Duck remains a mystery.

The name becomes obvious when the cache is found. It is also in remembrance of the Fat Goose and his famous line -

"I distrust a man who says 'when.' If he's got to be careful not to drink too much, it's because he's not to be trusted when he does."

Thanks Selkielass for the fantastic container.

The cache is suitable for small swag.
