Geocache Description:

Cache is not at posted coordinates. The caches in this series all contain questions related to the history of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. All the information needed to answer the questions in this 21-cache series can be found by going to the corps Guidon.

Six of the Medal of Honor caches (seven total) all contain hints to help you find a 21st cache. You need to complete those first before going after the final one in the series. All containers in the series, except for the final, are small homemade bisons constructed out of PVC with soda bottle tops. They are painted in such a way as to be VT appropriate.

Best of luck! Contact cacheNquilt or myself directly with questions. Take care, and best of luck!

All new cadets (freshmen) are required to greet all superior officers and cadets superior to them when inside dorms and outside on VTCC grounds, commonly known as the “Upper Quad.”  Freshmen greet cadets with the time of the day and the upperclassman’s rank.  For example, a new cadet passing a sophomore would say “Good morning, Cadet Corporal.”  They are to include the cadet’s last name if it is known.

All underclassmen salute senior cadets, as those cadets hold “cadet-officer” ranks.

All cadets, regardless of rank, greet non-commissioned officers (active-duty or retired) and commissioned officers (active duty or retired).  All cadets salute officers.

The act of verbally greeting all upperclassmen and officers when passing on corps grounds is done so cadets will gain an appreciation for military customs and courtesies, increase their self-confidence, and quickly learn the names of their classmates and superiors.

This act of verbal greeting is known as:

  1. Dragging                                              N 37 3.548           W 76 24.677
  2. Sounding Off                                        N 37 3.318           W 76 24.460
  3. Popping Off                                          N 37 3.748           W 76 24.677
  4. Customary Greeting                              N 37 3.548           W 76 24.477
