Recently I had an Earthcache, two traditional caches, and a multi-cache published in the Pine Island Ridge area. I figured a Letterbox and a puzzle would round it out nicely.
This is such a wonderful place to take a hike. As you walk down the trails notice the tender tendrils of Spanish Moss hanging from the large, bending branches of the huge Live Oaks lining the path on either side of the trail, forming a deeply layered shady canopy, shielding you from the hot sun.
Keep your eyes open for an amazing abundance of wildlife in the area. While hiding this cache I saw raccoons, tortoises, a snake, an owl, iguanas and many birds. Oh yes, horses too - watch your step in some areas! There are also insects, so you may want to bring bug spray with you.
This Letterbox is tucked away on the ridge. There is a stamp, an ink pad and the log book inside.
Have fun searching and make sure you take time to enjoy the beauty of this area. You really don't need to do too much bush whacking. There is a trail that will take you to a clearing and then the cache is hidden about 25-30 feet in.
