This location could provide for some great sunset photography,
and it's a nice place to just sit and let the rest of the world go
by. It's about 20-30 meters off the city pathway circling the
Glenmore Réservoir which can be quite busy at times. There is also
a dirt path with less traffic closer to the cache but far enough to
provide some privacy from the uninitiated. It can be accessed
easily by foot or bike with nearby parking at Glenmore Landing.
Origins of the réservoir: Calgary pioneer Sam Livingston
originally settled at the location of the reservoir, and he gave
the name Glenmore (Gaelic for "big valley") to this area. A dam was
completed on 31 January 1933 to flood the valley and create the
city's main water source. When the area flooded (by the summer of
1933), part of the Livingston house was preserved and now stands in
Heritage Park which borders on the reservoir about a kilometer
north of the cache location.
