Visit one of the best-kept secrets - Laing Park and Laing Park Cemetery has had several names, Skinner Family or Teel Family Cemetery and also known as Twin Branch Cemetery, located in what is now Laing Park at 2749 Lincoln Way East in Mishawaka, IN. The exact location cannot be identified, it was probably 350-380 feet south of the highway on top of the hill on the east end of the park. Picnic area and playground equipment next to Eller Ditch also great Salmon fishing.
Since there are no stones left to record, we have to rely on a DAR inventory (1929), a Jan. 29, 1934 and Mar 20, 1939 South Bend Tribune articles and an old notebook that contains genealogical data on the Teel Family.
The Grave Registration Project Workers visited the cemetery in 1939 and noted there were about 20-25 stones in 1918.
Work for the collection of these names was performed by the St.Joseph County Genealogical Association. Without their hard work and passion for memorializing we would never be blessed with this information that is so valuable for genealogists. They have published 5 volumes of cemetery records for St. Joseph Co, IN
