Bet Zayit was founded in 1949 in the midst of the Jerusalem Hills, and is known for its water reservoir and impressive dam. One of its interesting sites is the Bet Zayit dinosaur site, located in the center of the Moshav, near the silo*, the barn and the grocery store.There is a courtyard with trees and a sign pointing in the direction of the dinosaur site.
Inside the site, in the rock under the shelter, you will be able to see the footprints of the three-toed dinosaurs who walked along this trail. In the past, this area was swampy, and this is why you can see the footprints.
Studies have shown that the footprints at the site are those of a relatively small dinosaur, which could run on two legs, probably the common Struthiomimus. This ostrich-like dinosaur weighed only about 150-300 Kilos, was about 2.5 meters tall and 4 meters long. A resident of Bet Zayit and his neighbor discovered the footprints in the mid-20th century while digging in the ground to build a house there.
The gate is locked, however you can take the key from the secretary of the Moshav (Sun-Thr 9am-2pm), or simply jump above the fence. In any case, the entrance is free.
*The silo at the top of the hill may look like a water tower, but it's not. The intention was to set up a chicken feed production facility. However, the idea was abandoned when another one had already gone into production in the vicinity.

מושב בית זית נוסד בשנת 1949 במבואות הרי ירושלים וידוע בשל סכר המים המרשים שלו. בין האתרים המעניינים הנוספים בו הוא אתר עקבות הדינוזאורים הממוקם במרכז המושב, ליד האסם והמכולת. על גבי סלע נטוש מתחת לעצים אפשר יהיה לראות את עקבות הדינוזאורים. בעבר האזור היה בוצי וזו הסיבה שניתן לראות את העקבות של אותם דינוזאורים, ככל הנראה מהמין הנפוץ של סטרוטיומימוס, דמויי יען, אשר הלכו על 2 רגליים כשבכל אחת 3 אצבעות. הם היו בגובה של עד 2.5 מטר, אורכם הגיע לכ-4 מטרים ומשקלים בין 200-150 קילו. תושב בית זית ושכנו גילו את העקבות לאחר שנחפר במקום בור לצורך בניית בית
