Geocache Description:

This cache was placed during the 10th Annual Memorial CITO event on Saturday, April 26th, 2014. We coordinated with Boulder County to help clean up after the devastating floods from September 2013.

This area is known as “Breach 1”, where the mighty St. Vrain breached its banks and flooded acres and acres of open space agricultural land near the Cemex plant. Large trash includes construction materials, parts of houses and other buildings, tires, etc., all washed down from Lyons.

The power of water was so strong, it ripped houses off their foundations, destroyed roads, and even carried the 2nd story of a house down river - and dropped it off just West of here:

The area to the East is private property, and the area to the West is where over 100 cachers spent the weekend and cleared roughly 50 acres of flood debris.

The cache itself is a camo'd ammo can. It's placed in an area we hope won't be seeing water any time soon.
