This cache will bring you to a viewing location for one of the Barn Quilts of Door County. Actually this quilt was placed as part of the Kewaunee County Barn Quilt project from 2008-09, but it is located in Door County and included in both the Kewaunee and Door County barn quilt tours.
Although this farm was recognized by the Kewaunee project in 2008 because the barn was built in 1872, this 5th generation farm has now gone high-tech with a completely robotic milking system installed in 2014. The system recognizes each individual cow based on an ID tag on its collar that allows the cow’s milking history, feeding information and other history details to be tracked. The system also robotically sanitizes the cows and the milking equipment to prevent the spread of disease and then completes the milking and feeding process without the need for human help. The manpower reduction has been a cost and time saver and the high-tech system has also resulted in better milk yield.
