Geocache Description:

“Oh, the Places You'll Go”
by Dr. Seuss
Published in 1990

Geocaching and a love for books can take you so many places you never even knew existed. Richmond's Morrisson-Reeves Library has been providing adventures to young and not so young patrons for 150 years. Started in 1864, it is one of the oldest libraries in the state, opening long before similar sized communities acquired Andrew Carnegie's help to start their own libraries. Richmond’s benefactor was one of its earliest prominent citizens, Robert Morrisson.

In 1892 Caroline Middleton Reeves made an additional donation to memorialize her husband and son who had died in a train accident near Hagerstown the year before. Her gift enabled a substantial expansion to the original building and the library officially became the Morrisson-Reeves Library. Today, in addition to thousands of books, magazines, newspapers, videos and records; the library houses much of the area’s history, genealogy information and some significant artifacts from the area.

This is an offset cache. The library is currently open on adjusted hours: Mon-Thur 11A-8P, Fri 11A-6P, Sat 11A-4P. Please observe all health and safety protocols in affect at the time of your visit. The coordinates will take you to a container, the container will have information that will help you locate the logbook for signing.

This cache is part of the Decades of Discovery series placed to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Morrisson-Reeves Library. There were eight original caches in the series, each themed around a book or movie, that took you to unique places throughout Wayne County, Indiana. The series is slowly shrinking due to persistent muggles. We will keep as many of the original hides going as we can.
