Geocache Description:

“The Grapes of Wrath”
by John Steinbeck
Published in 1939

Richmond has had a colorful history when it comes to grapes and wrath. The most famous female hell-raiser in the world descended on Richmond no less than five times wielding her battle axe against sinners and the "rum-soaked allies of Satan."

Carrie Nation was a temperance advocate whose first husband had died a drunkard, which for her demonized all acohol. A relatively large woman at almost 6 feet tall, she would run through the streets waving her hatchet, denouncing alcohol and scolding those who partook in its evilness.

Things have changed a little in the last 100 or so years and Richmond is now home to as assortment of pubs and brew houses. This cache was placed with permission of the owner and is available during daylight hours only. Parking is available in the grass lot near the cache.

This cache is part of the Decades of Discovery series placed to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Morrisson-Reeves Library.
