Hanham Baptist Church can trace its roots back to over 350 years ago.
The Baptist Christians have a rich heritage here in Hanham and the area itself is mentioned in the Doomsday Book.
The very first chapel was built on this site in 1714 and has
maintained a Christian witness in Hanham ever since.
The modern day chapel was constructed in 1972 on the site of an original chapel.
On 24th February 2013 a service was held to celebrate the official opening of the attractive new frontage, which has enlarged the entrance area and made a welcoming foyer which includes a coffee bar.
The church interior has been redecorated and the old pews removed to be replaced by chairs, making the sanctuary a warmer and inviting space.
For anyone who is daunted by the flight of steps at the front of the church there is a very easy access route at the side of the chapel for the less able and for families.
“If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first at churchmicro@gmail.com so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.
There is also a Church Micro Stats & Information page found via the Bookmark list”
