Ce village abritait autrefois une usine qui transformait le chanvre qui était cultivé dans la région en textile. On y transformait aussi le coton importé du Brésil ou de Virginie pour produire la célèbre toile Vichy (à carreau). En 1866, l'usine brula et ne fut pas reconstruite. C'est à cette époque que les paysans du coin abandonnèrent la culture du chanvre.

This village once housed a factory that turned hemp which was grown in the area (textile). It also transformed coton imported from Brazil or Virginia to produce the famous painting Vichy (in tile). In 1866, the factory burned down and was never rebuilt. It was at this time that the local peasants abandoned the cultivation of hemp.
