Geocache Description:

This cache is a replacement listing for the original multi-cache.  Be on best behavior as the area is under 24 hour surveillance.

This cache is placed with the permission and knowledge of the Mesquite Metro Airport Manager and the City of Mesquite. The cache resides on the outside of all buildings open to the general public side of the airport.

This is one of 25 caches Q125 Mesquite Geocache Challenge placed within the City of Mesquite as one of the many events throughout the year to help celebrate Mesquite’s Sesquicentennial: A year-long event to foster a pride of community, as well as develop an appreciation for Mesquite’s history. Mesquites Metro Airport was built back in 1975 with private funding. The private airport was purchased by the City of Mesquite in 1983 with grant funding from the FAA. In 1992 it had major runway refurbishing and expansion. The main runway was also extended by 1,000 feet. The airport covers approximately 399 acres. Currently it has one runway that is 5,999 feet long and 100 feet wide. According to 2004 data it had 100,00 general aviation operations which averages 273 operations per day and in 2014 a new Control Tower was added to handle aircraft traffic. In 2005 Mesquite Metro Airport was named the Reliever Airport of the Year. Have fun with this cache!
