Geocache Description:

This is pretty much the same location and hide but with a smaller container than the old "Kids Play Too!" cache that was muggled and archived. Due mainly to the season and the varying maintenance of the area, as well as the need for stealth, kids do need adult supervision on this one.

This cache is a duct-taped quart-sized plastic peanut butter jar with a FEW items for kids. There is a bit of a bank and some briars and other undergrowth, and the possibility of poison ivy, so it's a bit "riskier" than I like for a kids' cache and some supervision is needed. It, as did its predecessor "Kids Play Too!", serves as counterpoint for the nearby cache "Seniors Play Too." This younger kids' cache is larger and starts with some trade items for kids; the cache for the "older kids" is quite small and contains only a log. The younger kids' cache is easy to find; apparently the seniors' cache was quite difficult at first, but as the finds finally started, the word got around and it's not so hard anymore. The younger kids' cache is in a park for young ballplayers; the seniors' cache is behind a facility for the "older folk." Based on the hopeful premise that the real thrill is being outside and finding "treasure," the items in the kids' cache are inexpensive, but to keep down on any spoilage from dampness, they are in zip-lock bags, one bag per kid. Please put any trade or donation items in similar bags, and include any needs for maintenance in the online log. Now for a little about the park where the cache is located: Gene Turner Park is a youth baseball complex opened in 1951 with the first season of youth baseball in Morganton. The facility was constructed and funded by the Morganton Parks and Recreation Foundation, Inc. The second field was constructed in 1981 by the City of Morganton and named in honor and memory of long time youth baseball supporter and field manager Gene Turner. The park covers 2.3 acres. */*/*/*/*/*/* STARS n' BARS to LeFo, who got the FTF on this one in what seemed like 15 seconds after it was published! */*/*/*/*/*/*
