Floating Under Foot
This former Central of Georgia Railway swing bridge crosses the Oostanaula River just before it merges with the Etowah to form the Coosa River. The Coosa later joins with the Alabama River and continues all the way to the port city of Mobile on the Gulf of Mexico.
Look closely at the center pier just below the trestle and you'll see the large gears which allowed the bridge to swing parallel to the river to allow steamboats to pass underneath. If you are walking across the bridge, you may see the cache but it is only accessible by watercraft.
