Lonely Doug is a 230ft. fir located in the Gordon River valley about 15-20min. past Avatar Grove. He is one fine speciman of a tree. He stands completely alone in a clearcut. His tree friends and habitat are long gone. He really is worth a visit to see his enormous circumference and wonder just what a forest of Doug's looked like when they were all growing in a fine old growth forest.
If you find Lonely Doug, drive up the road a bit and seek out 17blonde's cache in an old growth forest. It is quite a contrast between this clearcut and the old growth forest still remaining.
