YOUR ADVENTURE STARTS FROM THE LIVERMORE TRIAL HEAD PARKING AREA FOR THE WEST PENN TRAIL......
Night of the Living Dead is a 1968 independent black-and-white zombie film directed by George A. Romero. Ben (Duane Jones) and Barbra (Judith O’Dea) are the protagonists of a story about the mysterious reanimation of the recently dead, and their efforts, along with five other people, to survive the night while trapped in a rural Pennsylvania farmhouse..... The old Livermore Cemetery now rests on top of the hill above the sunken town where the deceased once lived. It was a requirement by the Flooding Act that it be moved due to contamination of disturbing buried coffins by means of purposely flooding the area. However the legend tells us that the cemetery was moved so that the dead could rest below the dirt instead of water. You will find the haunted graveyard at the end of Livermore road, which also happens to be the entrance to the West Penn Trail.
The Livermore Cemetery sign is still intact and it is the original that was used in the black and white version of Night of the Living Dead, the actual movie itself was filmed an hour away in Evans City, Pennsylvania.
DEPENDING ON WHO YOU LISTEN TO THE MOVIE "NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD" MAY OUR MAY NOT HAVE HAD SCENES FILMED HERE........NO MATTER THE LEGEND LIVES ON.....FUN CACHE IN THE OUTBACKS OF LIVERMORE CEMETERY.............THE CEMETERY ITSELF IS OFF LIMITS, POSTED AND PRIVATE PROPERTY,BUT THE CACHE IS HIDDEN ALONG THE CLIFFS OF THE CONEMAUGH LAKE FLOOD PLAIN AND OLD ABANDONED RAILWAY STILL WITHIN VIEW AND ACCESSIBLE FROM A ROUND ABOUT WAY.......THIS IS THE PLACE OF INTERNMENT FOR ALL THE TOWNS FOLK KILLED IN THE GREAT ST. PATRICKS DAY FLOOD OF 1936 THAT WIPED OUT THE TOWN OF LIVERMORE.......THIS IS A HUNTING AREA FOR SPRING TURKEY AND FALL BIG GAME SO PLEASE KEEP SOMETHING ORANGE WITH YOU DURING RETRIEVAL.......CACHE IS NOT RETRIEVABLE THRU CEMETERY ONLY FROM THE WEST PENN TRAIL AND THE OVERLOOK TRAIL AND ALONG CLIFF.......ALTERNATE WAYPOINTS FOR APPROACH HAVE BEEN POSTED.....BYOP......film canister holds log.......PLEASE REHIDE THE BEST YOU CAN OR BETTER...........BE PREPARED ALL YOU ZOMBIE HUNTERS...........PLEASE NO NIGHT CACHING..........Due to repeated vandalism, access to the cemetery is now restricted and regularly patrol by authorities....Over the years it has been illegal to trespass on the property and trespassing would result in a $500.00 trespassing charge.......FROM PARKING PROCEDE DOWN ROAD TO WEST PENN TRAIL AND (T1).....ON TO LOOKOUT AND (T2)................UP TO EDGE OF FIELD AND STRAIGHT BACK TO WOODS
