Vinton county is the proud home of the Eastern Cottontail Rabbit. An adorable creature with long, perky ears, shiny, curious eyes, and most importantly--a white "cotton" tuft for a tail. During the spring and summer you can't drive down a country road without spotting one. They're as much a part of the county's scenery as its beautiful rolling hills. Some of its favorite snacks include clover and dandelion. Baby bunnies are born mostly May through June. While most cottontails prefer the tall grass of a quiet field, the surreptitious rabbit you're searching for today has made its home in a more . . . wooded locale. I hope when you find her, she'll put a smile on your face and give you a new appreciation for the amazing animal that is the Eastern Cottontail. :)
This cache is hidden in a wooded area on a lightly traveled road. It's near a residence and three dogs. They sing the song of their people but are harmless. As with any country location please watch for snakes, ticks, poison ivy, and poison oak, as well as passing cars.
