La Pieve romanica di San Salvatore, di fondazione longobarda, risale all'VIII secolo. All'interno un basamento ed un rocchio di colonna provano che fu costruita su un tempio pagano. E' leggenda della mitologia greca, infatti, che in questo luogo abbia sostato in tenda Deianira la figlia di Bacco (VIII sec. a.C.) ed alla sua partenza abbia lasciato in ricordo un cippo-colonna che nei secoli seguenti sarebbe stato sostituito da un tempietto dedicato a Giove. Quattro capitelli bizantini del VI secolo e sei tracce pavimentali di colonne rivelano una precedente struttura a tre navate. Una lapide del 1318, sulla fiancata esterna destra, testimonia l'esistenza di una comunità religiosa. Questa pieve è la più antica testimonianza romanica della fede muraria sul territorio riminese e la recente ristrutturazione è stata eseguita in maniera fedele.
