Post-event optional activity:
After the event, all geocachers in attendance are invited to participate in a group hunt for the night multi-cache, Bump in the Night GC1VEKC. If you have never undertaken a night cache before, now is the time to do it with the security of other cachers.
I've heard this one is harder than some others, so invite folks to try it as a group. Strength in numbers!
The plan:
8:15 pm - Leave for Bump in the Night
8:30 pm - Meet at parking lot for Bump in the Night
8:35 pm - Hike to starting point
What to prepare for the post event hunt:
- READ INSTRUCTIONS AND LOGS ON "Bump in the Night" before leaving home
- Don't depend on others for your safety. Everyone must be safe.
- Wear reflective clothing, or accessories
- Bring flashlights (more than one, if possible)
- Carry extra batteries (for flashlights as well as GPS)
- Wear waterproof hiking boots, or rubber boots (You won't always see where your foot lands)
- Wear tough, tear-proof hiking clothes
- Bring GPS (of course)
- BRING MOBILE PHONE
- Swap phone numbers with group geocachers
- Turn track on GPS at start
- Mark frequent waypoints along the way. (Yes, you will need this on the way out)
We will only be searching for this one, single cache. This will be a test to see if people enjoy it, or if it works as a post-event activity.
