Geocache Description:

This cache is down the hill from a wonderful little grange in Newburgh, NY. The route is not too senic, but its alittle tougher than a park and grab. This particular grange is celebrating its 111th birthday this year! Please feel free to leave comments or concerns- this was my first drop!

The Balmville Grange Hall is located on Fostertown Road 2/10 of a mile west of the intersection with Route 9W and is the last remaining grange in the Town of Newburgh. It celebrated its 100th anniversary on September 28, 2003. Traditonally, a grange is a fraternal organization in the United States that encourages families to band together to promote the economic and political well-being of the community and agriculture. Kind of cool, I think.
