The title is translates to “Knock, Knock”, and the puzzle is intended for kids of all ages.
Originally designed to transmit messages using flaming torches, this code was described around 150 BC. Too complicated for its time, almost no one made use of it until the nineteenth century. Reducing the number of symbols used renders its analysis more complicated, making it a precursor to modern methods. It has also been used, in the form of the "knock code", to signal messages between cells in prisons by tapping the numbers on pipes or walls. In this form it is said to have been used by nihilist prisoners of the Russian Czars, and also by American prisoners during the Vietnam War.

Originalement conçu pour transmettre des messages à l'aide de torches enflammées, ce code a été décrit vers 150 av. J.-C.. Trop compliqué pour l'époque, quasiment personne ne l'utilisa avant le XIXe siècle. Du fait qu’il réduit le nombre de symboles utilisés pour le codage, ce qui rend son analyse plus difficile, il représente un précurseur des méthodes modernes. Ce code a aussi été utilisé par des prisonniers du Tsar russe ainsi que par des prisonniers américains pendant la guerre du Vietnam. Pour communiquer, ils tapaient sur les murs, ou sur la tuyauterie.
