Geocache Description:

Hopefully a quick and easy find of a matchbox container along the old Milford to Manchester railroad. The cache is on town land, although there used to be a house here (you can still see the driveway). Please don't park on the shoulder of Route 101 as it is too dangerous. Using the parking coordinates.

This cache is part of the Ghost Train series of caches along the route of the old Milford to Manchester Railroad. We've long been intrigued by the Milford and Manchester Railroad that was only in use for a few short years. This is the 25th cache we've placed in the series, a list of which can be found at the bookmark:Ghost Train Series

I believe the railroad's Bedford Station was located very near today's Mobil Gas Station on Route 101, so I figured that this location would have been close enough to catch a cinder as the train pulled out or into the station...not that anyone would want to catch a cinder. :) Route 101 follows the old railroad bed at this location.

If the Bedford Library is open, there is a model railroad setup on the first floor, just outside the Children's section, that has some more information on the railroad. If the library is open you can also get the information you need for the Ghost Train Bedford North puzzle cache that is part of this series.

A bit more information on the railroad (owned by the Boston and Maine Railroad) can be found here:
