Geocache Description:

Welcome to the first edition of the Calgary History Tour.  The idea behind these caches is to give people a little snippet of history on the web page and then direct them to a real place that was part of that history.  Calgary doesn't have a very long history, but as you will see, it certainly is interesting and often pretty colourful!

Outlaws!

Over 100 years ago, before he became famous throughout the untamed West, a young man, born in Pennsylvania the same year Canada became a nation, travelled to this city. He worked on the Bar U Ranch, was best man at a friend's wedding, saved his boss from certain death in a freak storm and became a partner in a saloon attached to a prominent hotel on this very spot:

N51 02.690 W114 03.699
WANTED: DEAD OR ALIVE!
Outlaw!
(Click for larger size)

Who is this man, soon to be a famous outlaw? While you contemplate this puzzle, check out Picture #1 Remember, it's not what you see! Think very young, and turn up your favorite music!

Question: What is the middle numeral in the three-digit number of the current address.

The second clue, as shown in Picture #2, can be found in the vicinity of:

N51 02.779 W114 04.870

Remember, outlaw hideouts were never easy to find! When you find the source of this picture, notice how many of the same image are present at this site. This is the second number you must email to me.

Now do you know? Picture #2 gives a clue to his famous hideout!

Incidentally, the first word in the name of this location shares its first four letters with the second word of the place in Calgary where you get your GPS supplies! And that second word is the same as the second word in the name of the hotel this man worked at! The first word in the name of that former hotel is the same as that of a theatre that used to stand at N51 02.865 W114 03.900.
