The South County Trailway is a 14.1-mile (22.7 km) long trail stretching from Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx to Elmsford in Westchester, NY. Construction started in the 1990s and was completed in 2011. Most sections of the trailway are paved. This was once the part of the New York Central Railroad system.
Poison Ivy is very common along this trail, but I did my best to avoid it.
The cache is a camoed micro container. The cache is accessible from the paved trailway, almost.
Wreckage and debris everywhere. The mess and piles of wood are left over from the clean-up following Hurricane Sandy. These trails, like most the roads in the area, were impassable for a while.
Parking is available at the posted coordinates.
There is also trail access from the North, but parking nearby is restricted.
